Hello everyone! Here in England, we are either winding down for the Summer break or we have already closed those big iron gates already. We're (maybe) beginning to see light at the end of the COVID tunnel and there are five-and-a-half glorious weeks of holidays beckoning. I Read David Walliams' Books... The SHOCKING Conclusion!

Hello everyone! Well, last time on the blog, I did something I have never done before. I left you on a cliffhanger. For anyone who hasn't read part one of this post, you can find it here . For those of you who did read it but have kind of forgotten the main points, here is a summary: David Walliams is an English entertainer and comedian who roughly ten years ago decided to turn his hand to writing children's books. I think he was one of the first of the recent deluge of celebrity authors for children. Anyway, I had often criticised his books and discouraged children from reading them. As a teacher, I felt they lacked academic nuance and stunted literary growth. I was not alone. Many, many people had come out to say that Walliams' books were inappropriate for children. **EDIT** Nov. 13, 2024 - It was brought to my attention that certain SEO optimisation algorithms read the sentence 'First was...' and assumed it was my number one slot. This was not the case, so I have changed the wording slightly. Hi everyone, It’s report writing season again! This is easily the most-hated time of the academic year and I can almost guarantee that this post will be too late for some of you. There may even be a few of you out there who have managed that holy grail of report writing - squirrelling away little tidbits throughout the year! All you guys have to do is cut, paste and be smug! End of year reports are a legal, and therefore statutory, requirement. There is some good news though… sort of. Depending on how awkward you want to be.
